#1. Welcome address by President of UEAA E. Horská
President Elena Horská welcomed the participants of the SC meeting and asked for approval of the SC Agenda (see above). It was approved.
#2. Approval of SC meeting Minutes (September, 22, 2023)
Minutes from SC meeting September 22, 2023 were approved.
#3. Online meeting and discussion with Dr. Carmen Cahill
– proposal for a new coordinator of EWG CAP. She is leading the working group of the French Academy on European Policies Impacting Food and Agriculture.Dr. Carmen Cahill introduced herself, her rich experiences from position of OECD agricultural director, deputy director of trade, French academy of agriculture. Dr. Carmen Cahill sees a low activity of EWG CAP and it will be necessary to stimulate higher interest and activity.
#4. Gene editing – Dr. Michel Thibier
– update on gene editing. Necessity to search for candidates for EWG in this field. Suggestion to contact Dr. Alain Toppan from the French Academy of Agriculture.
#5. Best scientific abstract competition
Deadline for abstract submission: December, 23, 2023
For the evaluation, it was decided that the abstracts received would be divided into two groups, the abstracts from each group being analysed by three evaluators. For the first group of evaluators, the following were proposed: Michel DUCLOS, Nazim GRUDA and Evi ARACHOVITI (Group A), Michel DUCLOS coordinator and Kerstin NIBLAEUS, Simone ORLANDINI and Baiba RIVZA (Group B), Kerstin NIBLAEUS coordinator. It has been decided that the evaluation procedure will be the one used in the previous Competition from the beginning of 2023. This involves two stages. In the first stage, all papers are evaluated, from which the first 3 or 4 ranked are finally retained, and in Stage II, the selected papers are analyzed and the final ranking is established with the first three winning abstracts. Michel DUCLOS agreed to coordinate both groups of evaluators in the final stage.
Three best abstracts will be awarded with the certificate and presented during SC meeting on March, 22, 2024. Elena Horska will invite them for presentation.
