On May 27-28, 2022, Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences hosted an international scientific conference on “Agricultural Mechanization and Technology in Europe and Perspectives”. Conference organizers were: Union of European Academies for Science Applied to Agriculture, Food and Nature (UEAA), and Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GAAS).
The conference was opened by Academician Guram Aleksidze, President of Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the UEAA, who reviewed the state of modern resource-saving technologies and technical means of cultivation of annual and perennial crops in agriculture, in Georgia, also the current state and perspectives of agricultural mechanization, and set out the tasks that need to be performed in order to achieve some success in this direction in Georgia.
Participants in the conference: President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences Acad. Giorgi Kvesitadze, President of the Latvian Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, Dr. Prof. Baiba Rivza, Academician of French Academy of Agricultural Sciences Michel Thibier, Giorgi Khanishvili- First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Dr. Iveri Akhalbedashvili – Agrarian Committee of the Georgian Parliament; Dr. Omar Kacharava – Advisor of the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and Director of the Georgian Agricultural Research Center – Prof. Levan Ujmajuridze; Mr. Bakur Gulua greeted the conference participants on behalf of the Patriarch of Georgia.
The presentations according to the agenda of the conference were made by the President of the Academy – Acad. Guram Aleksidze; President of the Latvian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Dr. Prof. Baiba Rivza; Professor Dr Michel Thibier – Past President of the UEAA, Academician of the French Academy of Agriculture, Acad. Yuri Lupenko Vice-President of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, and Academician-Secretary Andrei Gutorov, Dr René Autellet Academician of the French Academy of Agriculture, Dr. Kerstin Niblaeus – Royal Swedish Academy of Rural and Forestry and Associate Professor Per Frankelius, Prof. of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. B. Ambrus, Prof. of the Czech Academy of Agrarian Sciences Frantishek Kumchala.
Georgian scientists presented papers on the conference on agricultural mechanization and production processes, development of modern technologies in Georgia, as well as on the current state, problems and prospects of agricultural mechanization in Georgia: Academicians R. Makharoblidze, E. Shapakidze, A. Didebulidze and Z. Putkaradze, Professors N. Ebanoidze, G. Javakhishvili, O. Tedoradze and R. Margalitadze, Doctor of Technical Sciences Z. Makharoblidze, Doctors of Agroingineerings G. Kutelia, T. Nadirashvili and O. Tsartsidze.
In total 26 papers by 44 scientists in the field of agricultural mechanization were presented at the conference, including 8 papers by 11 scientists from EU countries.
An electronic version of the abstracts and texts of these papers has been sent to the authors of the papers and the Proceedings of the International Scientific Conference will be published in print. An account of measures and proposals for the development and improvement of the field of agricultural mechanization outlined at the international conference will be featured in the Conference Declaration.
