Nanotechnology in agriculture: from nanomaterials to nanobiosensors

Nanotechnology is since years one of the most important areas of research and development worldwide being agriculture one of the application fields. NANOALB, the Albanian Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Unit next to the Academy of Sciences of Albania also considers agriculture a priority area for future applications and is trying to push the research in this direction that will be quite beneficial for the country, the quality of the agriculture products and their impact to the citizen’s life.

Forest strategy and forest management practices: to achieve optimal balance between the conflicting demands will be crucial to find compromise solutions that can unite the different stakeholders. Prior to any decision, the UEAA strongly recommends broad scientific discussions and evaluations of scientific findings e.g. between scientists within the different regions, before changes in current management practices are requested.

Position Paper: Gene editing and new eu regulations urgently needed

The U E A A (Union Européenne des Académies d’Agriculture, www.ueaa.info) claims that the Directive 2001/18 / EC has become unsuitable due to advances in scientific knowledge and recent technical advances such as genome editing and hence urges the E U Governance to review and adjust the European regulations on GMO’s to recent scientific progress.
